When Hillary boasted of her support from "Americans, white Americans... whites... who had not completed college."

May 2008.
“These are the people you have to win if you’re a Democrat in sufficient numbers to actually win the election. Everybody knows that,” she said in the interview....

In Indiana alone, six in 10 white voters went for Mrs. Clinton, where she narrowly won the primary.... Mr. Begala, a Clinton supporter, said the party could not win in November with just “eggheads and African-Americans,” that the party could not ignore white middle-class voters....
ADDED: Meade read this and said: "These are the deplorables." And then, re Begala's "eggheads": "Does anybody have more of an egghead than Paul Begala? Just call him Paul Egg-gala."

George Wallace used to call them "pointy headed intellectuals". Are they pointy headed, or egg headed? And which is worse?

I'm sorry. My behavior was white middle-class American. And by white middle-class American, I mean deplorable.

They were much less deplorable back when Hillary was seeking their vote. And way less un-American too!

The propeller beanie sits nicely if you're an egghead.

Hillary is an egghead that smells like bad Kimchi lately.

Hillary supporter from 2008.

Someone else here wrote that the deplorables comment was intentional. I now think that is correct. She is just firing up her base. She's mostly giving up on the non-college educated white voters. This is all poll driven.

This post got double posted. I've deleted the other one, and here are 4 comments that were there:

1. Brando said..."And Obama proved that wrong, didn't he? Ultimately you have to cobble your majority out of some percentage of each group. Dems for generations did very poorly with white "educated" voters, and had to run up their numbers with the blue collar whites (and when they did poorly with that group, it was landslide time for the GOP). Now, that seems to have reversed--the Dems are actually winning the white educated (which is a larger percentage of white voters than ever before) and the GOP is leading with the white blue collar voters. The difference here is the white blue collars have more gradually moved towards the GOP so will be harder for Clinton to win back, while the white white collars broke for Romney last cycle, and may be winnable for Trump. I think those will be the "swing" voters for this election."

2. traditionalguy said..."Times have changed. The active duty American Military now overwhelmingly supports Trump. But the hateful and angry Hillary expresses her big FU at their deplorable white souls. And the Globalist Bankers and weapons dealers are now openly ordering their Media assets to make that brain damaged basket case into their Commander-in-Chief. Trump suddenly looks like a sure thing."

3. Bad Lieutenant said... "Don't get cocky, ginger."

4. mezzrow said..."That was then, this is now. The purpose of the Obama administration was a fundamental transformation of the nation, and we'll see just how much of that has taken place, won't we?"

Many have already compared Hillary's "Basket of Deplorables" to Mitt Romney's 47% remark. I didn't realize, though, that both comments were noted in mid-September.

And now Hillary's suspended her campaign. McCain suspended his in mid-September back in '08. Both Mitt and McCain were considered beaten, in retrospect, by these events.

So much for October Surprise. Looks like the juicy stuff is in September now. And, yes, I think Hillary has done herself in, electorally. Health-wise, I think she will do herself in if she doesn't stop and smell the roses.

Or maybe she is just not very bright.

"This is your deplorable brain on Trump."

"Any questions?"

Assange the peace activist will still have his say. Keep banging the war drums Hillary!

I like how "eggheads and African-Americans" are presented as if they were exclusive sets.

IOW, you could be black or an egghead, but not both.

Someone should call the (every annoying) Mr. Tyson.

Open post to the MSM:

Stumble: "to hit your foot on something when you are walking or running so that you fall or almost fall."

Hillary did not stumble.

Trip: "to catch the foot against something so as to stumble"

Hillary did not trip.

Here's the word you need:

Collapse: "to fall down or become unconscious because you are sick or exhausted"

Say it with me "Hillary collapsed."

Now that wasn't too hard, was it?

Well, when Hillary Clinton ran on "making America great again" 2008, Bill Clinton did not insist it was a segregationist dog whistle, like he does now.

If this election has one recurring theme, it is that there is nothing that the Clintons can accuse their opponents of doing that they did not do first or worse.

Adlai Stevenson III was the "Egghead".

George Wallace's line was "Pointy headed intellectuals who cain't park their bicicles straight."

And Republicans, or some anyway, are falling for imitating the Democrats and dividing people up in imaginary blocks to be manipulated on the idea they will vote on their "self-interests," again as defined in the "expert's" imagination.

Everyone votes their self interest, the only question is how they define their self interest.

I'm sure Robert (blogging egghead) Wright will be able to explain all this with his keen, geometric logic.
If only Prof Althouse will quit being or pretending to be so deplorable.

No disrespect meant to the otherwise admirable Queeg.

If the stakes weren't so high, I'd be amused by the Democrats losing their "party of the people" propaganda shtick, to have it successfully taken up by a New York Republican (?) billionaire real estate magnate.

This is the real problem with what the American presidency has degenerated to. Calvin Coolidge, the last great American president, need not apply.

I see the abandonment of white working class by Crooked Hillary and the Dems to me to be likely a bad move on their part. It may help in this election, but likely not be helpful for the future. What they are left with are those on welfare and the rich, very rich, and esp the super rich. Plus secular professionals. The working (blue collar) class has always been their strength, at least since Andy Jackson and his band of deplorables invaded the White House. Drawing the line at being on welfare is not a good place to be, for a number of reasons. One is the moral angle - which is better, being on welfare, or trying to get a decent job? Second, a lot of those who don't work, don't vote, unless they are enticed and driven to the polls (or their absentee ballots are collected and bundled). They mostly aren't going to be out there works nag for a candidate, and for a lot of them, you don't want them to be. The Dems vaunted grass roots armies are precisely the demographic being dumped here. Another problem is that for esp this demographic, their loyalty to the Dems is mostly hereditary and traditional they are Dems since everyone in their family are Dems, going back to when they were immigrants getting off the boat at Ellis Island. Once that is broken through, a lot of them aren't going back, and the next Republican nominee is likely to be more appealing to the white upper middle class than the brash, crass Trump. The term I was looking for earlier here is "fire wall". Clinton and the Dems are tearing down their traditional fire wall. And that leaves them primarily with those who benefit from big govt, against the larger majority in the middle who are oppressed by it

"Basket of deplorables" is such an odd-duck kind of phrase.

A basket is a relatively delicate thing, and one you can carry in your hand.

But This one is full of ugly ghoulish slobbering units, exactly what you would never put in a basket, the goo gets into the weave and you can't get it out.

No, her phrase is goofball and incorrect. It is not a simply basket holding us.

I would say Trump supporters are a fleet filled with deplorables, well-supplied and riding on steel, so glad to be ready to rollover this zombie Democratic Party autopilot machine.
