"Trump sticks the landing by engineering a rare reverse-Khan. (Good luck, critics!)"

ADDED: Clicking over to Adams's Twitter feed, I see that he used Periscope during Trump's speech last night. You can't watch it now, but if you'd thought of doing it at the time, you could have watched Trump speak and simultaneously had Scott Adams watching with you — would you aim your iPhone at the TV to enhance that watching-with-you effect? — and heard him saying whatever came into his head. It's like your own old-fashioned living room but with an assuredly interesting seat-mate. And you can turn him off if he annoys you, unlike your dad.

It wouldn't work too well for me, because I have Meade and he talks and I talk too, and it's already so much talking that we frequently pause the TV. Periscope is live, so that pausing habit would have to go.

ALSO: Adams has a blog post on the speech. Excerpt:
Trump needed to undo the persuasion that Clinton’s side has been laying on the public for months. Specifically, Trump needed to demonstrate that he is…

1. Not crazy.

2. Not uninformed.

3. Not the wrong temperament to lead.

4. Not scary.

5. Not racist.

By my scorecard, Trump achieved all five objectives in the eyes and of his core supporters, and 3-out-of-5 with his opponents. I’ll break it down....

"Countless Americans who have died in recent years would be alive today if not for the open border policies of this Administration. This includes incredible Americans like 21-year-old Sarah Root. The man who killed her arrived at the border, entered federal custody, and then was released into a U.S. community under the policies of this White House. He was released again after the crime, and is now at large."

Your tax dollars at work, promoting the agenda of Barack Obama, George Soros, Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party.

Check out the beginning monologue of Klavan's wednesday podcast for the history of every Trump vs Hillary scandal coverage link.

As for Adams, I can't parse the title.

I dunno. I'm just not that captivated by Mr. Adams, but I do think he has a spell on our hostess.
Cue the Screaming Jay Hawkins!!

Headline - Close the Border and Get Rid of Criminal Aliens

A majority position - deal with other things later. Reagan could have done it, didn't. Bush I could have done it, didn't. Bush II could have done it (particularly after 9/11), didn't. The political elite have Lucy'd the football once too often.

Althouse, why don't you just write to Scott Adams and tell him to come to Madison and hang out with you and Meade?

rehajm said...

Twitter still lets Adams tweet? He isn't exactly pro Hillary sometimes. Isn't it established Twitter policy to suspend those types?

rehajm said...

Maybe I'm thinking of Facebook...

So you could potentially watch a movie with the director or one of the stars. Which would be more interesting?

I'm not that impressed with Adams but people know what they like.

@Sydney

I remember a few years ago Howard Stern live-tweeting a basic cable airing of Private Parts, seemingly on a whim, and thought it was fairly interesting.

Live video (Periscope or FB) would be even better.

I would like this for movies, TV, or better yet, sports.

DVDs often come with a commentary track. I never use it.

NFL and MMA know you would like this too and Twitter is happy to provide them with your contact information.

A "reverse Khan"? Why, did Hillary actually spend a couple weeks publicly attacking parents of people killed by illegal immigrants? Or was she not quite that stupid?

I guess some of us just haven't been "master persuaded" by Adams yet. Maybe the hypnotism will kick in any day now.

David Begley said...

Angel Moms™ was pure brilliance. It branded the real victims of illegal immigration.

Michelle Root is an Angel Mom. Her daughter Sarah was killed by a drunk illegal alien while street racing in Omaha. She as killed less than five miles from where I am sitting now. The illegal alien from Hounderas had previous contacts with ICE but was not deported. If Obama enforced the laws of the United States Sarah Root would be alive today. Obama has unleashed a crime wave upon America with people who should never have been here in the first place.

Scott is right. Those mothers of murdered children were powerful emotionally because they announced finding real hope in loyalty to this movement lead by this unusual candidate from NYC.
For some reason they were not seeing the evil silly clown that MSM paints of him all day long. Kaine was on Morning Joe just now, and he was mush mouthed and weak. Hillary is still MIA. Nobody could feel loyalty to that kind of tripe.

JZ said...

Seems that Ann Coulter had a few complimentary things to say about the Trump speech. The sensitive people on Morning Joe told me as much when they said that a certain woman said some horrible things that would not be repeated on Morning Joe.

I'm glad Billy was able to set up his foundation, servers, and aides using taxpayer funds. I know he used my hard earned dollars well. Thank You! One never wants to see an ex-president and his wife at a soup kitchen.

I should add that Sarah Root was one year older than my youngest daughter. So, yes, I have great empathy for the Root family. Sarah Root had graduated from college the day before her death with a 4.0 grade point average.

I saw Kaine on msdnc too. I heard him say we'd have to elect Hillary in order to see whats in her immigration plan. 100 days or some sort. Sounds reasonable eh? We should trust the Clintons.

I'm pretty sure on the periscope app you can pause during the live broadcast and yoy can also watch them once they've ended.

Somebody explain "sticks the landing." It's not aviation talk.

You might pin the airplane to the runway, if you're unpracticed and doing a wheel landing in a tailwheel airplane and otherwise having trouble, as if it were unusual to grease it in on the main gear.

Wake the f up people

"found that Clintons’ representatives, between 2001, when the Clintons left the White House, and the end of this year, had requested allocations under the Act totaling $16 million. That’s more than any of the other living former presidents — Jimmy Carter, George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush — requested during that span."

"An analysis of the records provided by GSA, combined with Clinton Foundation tax returns, found that at least 13 of the 22 staffers who have been paid by GSA to work for Clinton’s personal office also worked for the Clinton Foundation."

I saw the speech. Trump is a forceful speaker, and, last night anyway, he made a good speech.. He's not always personable, but he does hold your attention. He's got it all over Hillary in that regard. Hillary is actively irritating when she's not boring. That's her range--boring to annoying, monotone to shrill. Trump is far more animated and there's an undercurrent of humor in his braggadocio.........From what I saw this morning, the Dems and the news commentators didn't try to take down the angel moms. They simply ignored them, and the speech they criticized was not the speech that I heard.......They'll probably get away with it. The people who actually heard the speech are mostly the people who are going to vote for Trump. Most people will hear about the speech rather than actually hear the speech. The news will cherry pick the most controversial parts of the speech for replay and utterly ignore the angel moms.

Sticks is for gymnasts

I would prefer to "roll" it on, in plane talk.

rehajm said...

Stick the landing is a gymnastics term describing a clean dismount from apparatus void of an extra hop or step, as if the gymnast is stuck to the ground

FullMoon said...

Trump has Moms of children murdered by previously apprehended illegals.
Clinton has Moms of criminals portrayed as victims of racist police.

Periscope videos are usually out there for 24 hours. You can load the Periscope app to your phone. Then find Scott Adams and follow him, and you can re-watch it.

Ann and Meade should periscope them watching and talking about a TV show.

Both Rifftrax and Cinematic Titanic, the heirs to MST3K, did live shows.

I thought that was the best blog post Adams has done since last Spring- it broke down Trump's speech and purposes behind it without error.

There are three groups of voters in this election- those who will vote for Trump with certainty, those who will vote for Clinton with certainty, and those who haven't decided yet who to vote for or whether to even vote. Trump strengthened his position with the two he had to, while putting Clinton into a bind on the immigration issue. I predict after today, she doesn't mention it in any speech anywhere.

Recent cable TV cord-cutter here.

If/when you get serious about Altexit, I would pay-per-view to hear you and Meade make comments on current events. Whether you use Periscope or not (and you can now save and persist those videos btw), I value your thought-process and analysis.

Think about it! More people will be joining me looking for interesting content. Take your "taking heads" thing to the next level.

Thank you for your unique and entertaining spin on things. It is challenging and thought-provoking in ways that made TV so boring by comparison it was worth canceling

Good luck on your fall hikes and bike rides!

Those might be the three largest groups of voters, but I can think of several other groups, including that which I belong to: those who will vote for Johnson with certainty.

we need proper time-syncing of streamed things. each type of streaming has a different delay - usually longer the more spotty one of the connection is, e.g. periscope probably has a ~4 second total delay
