"@IvankaTrump Congrat's! Hopefully he will grow up to live in a world w/o the kind of hate your dad promotes/incites."

Fro the annals of The Family is Fair Game — some tweeter with the name Andy Ostroy managed to distinguish himself:

What a lousy thing to say.

Shame that poor Andy still hasn't grown up. Probably never will.

Typical of the cowardly "twitter" crowd. Brave behind a keyboard and always overplay their hand as they "bushwhack" those who can't defend themselves. For the child's sake, we will strive to neuter losers like you.

If you're going to hate on someone, at least do it without an apostrophe catastrophe.

Your child will be much happier in a world filled with the hate that I promote!!

I just had a baby ten weeks ago (or rather, my wife did) and when I see that picture I just think "man what a cute baby and Ivanka looks great!". This pathetic little hateful comment at the bottom just looks funny. I kind of look at it and go back to the picture and think "I like you guys". The whole thing also makes me like Trump. And then there's this little whiny jerkoff at the bottom. But OK, back to the baby and Ivanka. Good for you!

Based on the Twitter response Andy has certainly incited a number of women to want to punch him in the face.

The Trump family sure likes their Twitter accounts.

At the moment the Trump family is a Target#1 for every evil person on the face of the earth. True Christian and True Jewish. Israel is used to that level of demonic hatred, but the Trumps will have to learn quickly that it comes from the most unexpected of sources.

Dilemma: do I oppose Trump more than I loathe those Prog bastards?

Lewis Wetzel said...

Isn't it cute when progressives get people fired, assault people, or shoot people in the name of tolerance and fighting hate?
I mean, if you are going to fight hate, you need to set up a cultural where it is not only permitted to hate people who hate, it is a requirement to hate people who hate. People who do not hate people who hate, are in fact haters who are deserving of hatred themselves.

When some crazy fool walks into a public school and shoots down a bunch of innocent children, how I feel is trapped in my own country, like a man going down on a torpedoed ship. But when I try to think about what I can personally do to put a stop to this lunacy, my first thought is to take a pistol and shoot whoever’s responsible for making such travesties acceptable. Show them the terrible error of their ways in terrible terms they will understand. I probably won’t do that. But I think you can see our problem now.

Unfortunately, I think this type of tweet is more likely to be the reason Twitter survives.

This is why Twitter is a total waste of time. Every jerk in America exposes him/herself 140 characters at a time.
Yawn. Yech!

Not going to happen. Can't make any money. At all.

Nevertrumpers are classy people.

They will grow up soon and actually read Trump's positions. Until then they are just tools of the oligarchy and will keep supporting crap like this.

Ivanka named her baby a name that could be shortened to "Ted." Coincidence or strategy?

traditionalguy said...

There is no Theodore or Ted on Rafael's Canadian Birth certificate. It is another Lie by the Cuban/Canadian to call himself Ted.

Wouldn't that require Andy to not exist? Is he aware he's advocating his own death?

Would we be permitted to join in his advocacy?

Not going to happen. Can't make any money. At all.

Twitter going all SJW and the prevalence of block lists for people you've never met make it both wildly unprofitable but ALSO irrelevant to its stated goals.

MadMan: My initial reaction was similar to yours. But then I considered the contraction rule and wondered whether the obviously clever Andy wasn't making a subtle baby-delivery joke.

One cannot be a lefty in the 21st century without a healthy dose of blind, unreasoning hatred inside. For me, I'm happy for the couple. I hope the baby grows up in a world where lefties accept that not everyone accepts their premises, and deal with that in a respectful manner.

One other thing Mr. Tweeter: Ivanka is not only richer than you she is way way smarter.

Sigivald said...

I keep hearing people say "hate", but I don't actually see Trump spouting any, to speak of.

I think he's a tool and would make an awful President, but I do think that "hate" is, as is now usual, being used to mean "any positions the speaker thinks aren't nice".

Birkel said...

Sigivald:

I agree. The reflexive call by many on the Left is to say anybody who disagrees is hateful.

(I reserve my hatred for evil things, like a dryer that consistently returns only one of a pair of socks. /joke )

If you can't use an apostrophe correctly, I can't take you seriously.

Kevin said...

Seriously? How does someone else incite hate IN OTHERS? How does someone else control OTHER PEOPLE'S emotions? How do they make choices FOR THEM?

To say that is to discount the others. To make them less than human beings. Less than people.

It turns them into robots, which says more about the person making the claim than the person being attacked.

traditionalguy said...

I see the approval/disapproval thumb up or thumb down from Birkel is posted. I could hardly wait for my grade from the Birkel Club for Growth.

FTR: Cassius Clay was not Mohammed Ali until he filed for a legal name change. When did Rafael file for one?

Rafael's middle name is Edward, so his nickname should be Ed, not Ted. I do like Fast Eddie. But he is not a Ted unless his Cult renamed him by tongues and interpretation judged by two Prophets out of three. Or he is just a Liar.

Lewis Wetzel said...

Wait a second . . . Ted Cruz's real first name is Rafael?
That does it. I'm voting for Drumpf!

I wouldn't mind being born into a world where Ivanka was my mother and The Donald was my indulgent grandfather. There might be a lot of mixed Oedipal signals with Melania as my step grandmother however. I would want Melania as my step grandmother. It would be just way too confusing.

Birkel said...

So you are saying a man can choose what he wishes people to call him, traditionalguy?

That is why I always use whatever handle people choose for their posts. Childish name calling should be left to children. Grow up.

traditionalguy said...

Names are whatever people agree to use. A man named Sue was a good Johnny Cash song in which character should just should have said he was named TED.

And the best case is Ron Artest's tactic. He was known as a violent NBA player, that even attacked fans in the stands.

So Ron got him a name change. It is hard to eject a man named Meta World Peace, unless the referee sees through the lie.

I finally got around to reading that NYT article linked by rhhardin. It was the one about how the death of Princess Diana upset women in psychotherapy much more than men.

I'm still not quite sure what to make of that, same as I'm not quite sure what to make of this blog post about somebody saying something not nice (and pretty dumb) to someone related to Donald Trump. I really did try but I don't get it.

Maybe it has something to do with the baby.

Maybe I've got some kind of low-grade Asperger's or something like that.

Eric the Fruit Bat said...

Perhaps I should add that I re-watched Amalie (2001) the other night. There's a male character -- dimwitted but kindhearted -- who's a bit obsessed with the death of Princess Diana. The guy is mistreated by his greengrocer employer and Amalie intervenes to take a humorous sort of revenge. I don't remember whether the greengrocer/boss guy becomes a better person for it.

Fear not, Birkel. Read Albion's Seed. That will help you understand the importance of ethnic waives of settlement coming here from England 250-300 years ago. Without understanding that history, one cannot fully understand American's ways to this day.

@traditionalguy, if the late, lamentable, Edward Moore Kennedy can call himself "Ted" then why can't R. Edward Cruz do likewise?

Ok, Ok. Cruz can declare himself Ted. But I still like Fast Eddie better.

I'm genuinely curious why Althouse chose to create this post. Assuming Andy Ostroy is a Troll, she fulfilled his fantasy by spreading his comment.

Maybe Althouse thinks this will generate sympathy for Trump who she seems to support. It's always possible to find someone, somewhere saying something terrible about a public figure. The stuff said about Megyn Kelly was horrific, but Althouse didn't choose to spread those comments. Why pick this?

Maybe Althouse is angry at those who criticize Trump and wants to create a connection between Trump doubters and jerks like Mr. Ostroy. Is there not enough anger between groups without inviting such dubious and invidious associations?

Maybe this is further commentary about how wrong it is to use children for political purposes, but nothing in the tags Althouse chose suggest that was her aim.

Maybe Althouse is trying to make subtle commentary about Trump himself. After all, Trump also tweets nasty attacks against the family members of his political opponents. I would never vote for Mr. Ostroy following his extremely poor judgment, but he is not running for office. Perhaps Althouse is trying to get Trump supporters to see through a parallel example how Trump's attacks on Ted Cruz's wife will appear to others.

Methinks the "asshole" is the politician-bootlicker who got alzheimer's and forgot that Ivanka had made herself a part of the campaign.

How is it that she's afforded a bubble with which to deny the kind of world her daddy's trying to create? Does the false presentation of an idyllic family utopia get to shield people from the reality of what their family members are doing? Isn't there a nepotistic autocracy where you can take your contempt for free speech, democracy and responsible politics? Is exiting Trump's first wife's vagina accompanied by a magic card to prevent her from the embarrassment that he creates? Seriously, this sort of bootlicking is much better suited to a monarchy than a republic. And you people wonder how a third Bush match-up against a second Clinton became almost inevitable. Amazing.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

I don't think she's a bad person and I don't think the same Twitter feed is the best place to drop a comment like that, but it's hard to defend the continued sheltering of someone that privileged already, especially when her husband is such an obviously over-privileged/over-indulged trustafarian of the highest order. The guy doesn't have a single accomplishment, from college entrance to his career, that wasn't bought and paid for by daddy. Much like Donald, himself. It's important not to make these people indulge their already way over-indulged impulse to see themselves as more important and better than they are. The last thing this election needs is more Goldman Sachsing of either Goldman Sachs candidate.

Angus MacPherson is more Scots. If that was my name, I would change it to Angus MacFearsome and become a pro wrestler. I would claim to be the son of Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Someone needs to really do something about the Andy Ostroys of the world. What an asshole.

Reports on Twitter claim that Bikers are planning on riding into Janesville, WI tomorrow to counter protestors trying to shut down the 3pm Trump event.

Wisconsin is well known for its political civility. Bikers for Trump are a logical addition.

Wonder if Sykes will cheer the protestors, or stick with his 2011 positions.

To which traditionally replied: There is no Theodore or Ted on Rafael's Canadian Birth certificate. It is another Lie by the Cuban/Canadian to call himself Ted.

Ted is a common nickname/diminutive of the given name Edward. In England very few Edwards are called Ed (though Eddie is common enough). Most are Teds, as in Edward M. (Teddy) Kennedy.
