I just finished Trollope's novel, The Way We Live Now. Eight hundred pages of small print. It was never quite dull enough to give up and never quite interesting enough to read more than a chapter or two a night. I can see his appeal. Trollope presents a well modulated society. Not everyone is accepting of their place at the table, but everyone is agreed that there should be place settings at the table. If any of the characters have a sex drive, the author is sufficiently tactful not to mention it. The prose is the equivalent of warm milk. It has a pleasant soporific effect if you read a chapter before bedtime.

House of Cards is a great tv show. I'm rewatching the first season. Good Wash D.C. political drama for you junkies.

In Berkeley, as we speak, there are naked political protestors hugging trees

Are you sure we can still call it "Black" Coffee?

Sandra Bland is not a perfect victim because only Jesus Christ is a perfect victim. Amen?

House of Cards is good. The wife steals the show but not in a good way. She outclasses the Congressman's performance.

At least the guys in Chattanooga got a few rounds off at the shooter. I hope they got a couple of them into his miserable Muslim hide.

I am waiting for 'SharkQuake': an earthquake below San Francisco floods the ocean into the City with hungry sharks.

For context: this happens precisely during a gay marriage ceremony.

There is a team of experts that can defeat the sharks, but they are not able to be there due to the lack of High Speed Rail.

Also: all the computer-animated shark-faces resemble Nancy Pelosi.

Because they do.

I am Laslo.

Jamaica, the world’s 76th-ranked team, stunned the U.S. to advance to the Gold Cup final, keeping the U.S. men’s soccer team out of the final for the first time since 2003.

That the U.S. even has a men's soccer team assures the ultimate victory of ISIS.

Wow. The Sandra Bland hashtag has taken a bizarre turn. Everyone has convinced themselves the mugshot was taken when Sandra Bland was dead.
Talk about truthers.

The Black Coffee Café

That's a bit redundant. That's like naming a restaurant with a ham specialty The Ham-Serving House of Ham Where You Can Eat Ham.

Quaestor said...

Or the Department of Redundancy Department.

The jail cell where Sandra Bland hanged herself was an open invitation for trouble.

Stephanopoulis to Cosby lawyers, "All of these women are liars?"

Back in the day:

“She had a motive to lie,” Stephanopoulos decided of Gennifer Flowers. So Flowers was portrayed as a liar -- until Flowers produced tapes of her conversations with Clinton. Paula Jones joined the list of women “whose stories were so suspect that their accounts shouldn’t be dignified by the media.”
