"In case you missed it, there's some news out of Colorado that's better than hot pancakes and syrup. (If that's even possible.)"

Email, received just now, from Donna Brazile, the longtime Democratic Party character, identified in the email as Vice-Chair for Voter Registration and Participation/Democratic National Committee.

What subdivision of the supposedly sophisticated Democratic Party database am I in that my email address got selected for this especially folksy presentation of the news? Does the Democratic Party think I look fat? Does it see me as self-indulgent and pleasure-seeking? Does it assume I'm the kind of person who won't find it offputting to use Donna Brazile as the African American woman coming at me with a plateful of comfort food? And why pancakes? If I were cooking up this propaganda, using Brazile as the email signatory, the last comfort food I would choose is pancakes! And syrup... Like that's going to stir up sweet, mystic childhood memories without causing me to think that's racial and wrong.

(Cue the usual: If a Republican had done it....)

ADDED: Full text of the email:
Ann --

In case you missed it, there's some news out of Colorado that's better than hot pancakes and syrup. (If that's even possible.)

Governor John Hickenlooper signed a new elections bill into law that will make it easier for Coloradans to vote -- and takes some of the most proactive steps to do it that we've ever seen.

Under the new law, every registered voter in the state will be mailed a ballot, while keeping the option to vote in person. They're creating convenience centers for in-person early voting, and making it easier for people to register to vote.

Colorado is modernizing their voting process to make it consistent with how we are living our lives these days -- something that every state should be trying to do.

Agree? If you do, join me in thanking Gov. Hickenlooper for taking such an important step to improve the voting process in his state -- and for creating a model for other states to follow.

Republicans across the country have carried out an assault on voting rights over the past several years -- and we've been fighting them at every turn. But this new law in Colorado reminds us that it isn't enough just to fight efforts to restrict voting rights -- we have to find innovative ways of making it easier for Americans to participate in our democracy.

This past November, thousands of Americans stood in line for hours and hours to cast a ballot. That's not right -- and we should be taking every step we can to make the voting process easier for people to participate in.

Colorado just took a great big step in that direction. Join me and thank Gov. Hickenlooper -- let's make sure that Colorado isn't the last state to pass a law like this:

Thanks,

Donna

pffft--where I live the state democrat party sent a pre-filled out one to my father at my address (he lived in my house for a couple of months). Actually they sent three, but let's not quibble. On numbers.

So just an ordinary ballot where the person getting it still has to do all the hard work?

Yawn.

Jesus. Whatever happened to voting being a privilege, something people have fought and died for? It's been reduced to this, an email from Aunt fucking Jemimah?

The Californification of Colorado continues apace! The one time I vote for a democrat because the republican party in Colorado is a shit show and Hickenlooper seemed like a moderate with experience running a business.

I'm a dope. The next thing this guy will do is regulate the size of sodas here in Colorado.

The shame is how Colorado, which used to be a great state with a strong libertarian streak, became a labratory for progressive nonsense thanks to an influx of Californians and liberals from back east.

Small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and... dog meat (comfort), snake meat (more comfort), and roasted grasshopper (sheer luxury).

California used to be a conservative place too, you know, until the influx of liberals from the east. Up through the 80s, really. Republican governor, Senators, what have you. Then the population boom, liberals buying up housing in developments that used to be farm land, then (once in their nice homes) complaining about the environment, and making it harder for poor people, who have to put up with both their elitism and their guilt-ridden, corruption inducing liberalism.

They like to move around, vote in policies, ruin places, then move on.

It's the Liberal Horde.

I live in Colorado. Apparently, this bill will allow people to show up at the polls (same day registration) with the flimsiest of indentification (like a Light & Power bill) and vote.

Don't you think that people who support this kind of 'get out the vote' effort think that they'll be the ones to benefit from the voter fraud that comes from it?

BTW, Maybe Ms. Brazile thinks democrats are more likely to respond to this type of appeal because democrats are more emotional and have less impulse control.

Of course democrats are not the only humans who wlll cheat if permitted (indeed incentivized) to do so.

I expect competing frauds by both sides as all this unfolds.

Won't that be wonderful.

Democrats get so excited when voter fraud becomes even more inevitable. Could it be that voter fraud helps democrats?

I'm baffled by the "Evil Republican Vote Suppression" part of that.

Here in Oregon we've had vote-by-mail for ages ... and the State Republican Party has, to my knowledge, not a word to say against it.

Because them mean ol' Republicans don't want to make it "hard to vote" - they just want to make sure you're eligible to do so.

(Also, though, I admit there isn't much better than a nice, fluffy pancake with some syrup.)

Looking just at the summary of the legislation in Donna Brazile's message, I can think of three ways to cheat. And I'm not a pro, like the Chicago Democrats.

Republicans want to suppress the vote from people who are legally ineligible to vote. Wonder why Ms. Brazile overlooks the qualifier?

Pancakes are leavened chemically the same way you make the volcano experiment, so the lighter and fluffier then the more chemical they are, and the effects of digesting them lead to excess gas in the digestive system, fueled with sugar and it builds up fermenting in there causing discomfort and exits one way or the other, the digestive system being an open system at two ends. It's not real food. ))parft(( But what do you think of these mint chocolate chip pancakes?

Easier to vote. Easier to disenfranchise American citizens. This is the analogue of the easy money scheme which financed Obama's candidacy.

Anyway, perception matters, and the "journalists", "teachers", etc., will ensure a politically correct (i.e. corrupt) perception of reality.

I've never liked pancakes. If forced into a pancake situation I generally order a waffle and some orange marmalade to go atop. That usually throws 'em.

Sometimes my crew likes to visit the IHOP at some peculiar hour of the day or night. Jeez what a dive. The last time we went there I ordered an omelette. What I got was a large yellow cake with a vaguely eggy taste. The bastards put pancake batter in everything.

Any kind of pancake-purveying flapjack emporium reminds me of Gaear Grimsrud hankering for hotcakes when he's not watching soaps or putting people in the wood chipper
