"Willow was supposed to be doing 'Annie,' we got Jay-Z to do the movie, got the studio to come in..."

"... and Willow had such a difficult time on tour with 'Whip my Hair' and she said, 'You know Daddy, I don't think so... I said, 'Baby, hold up!' I said, 'No, no, no, listen; you'll be in New York with all of your friends and Beyoncé will be there. You will be singing and dancing,' and she looked at me and said, 'Daddy, I have a better idea, how about I just be 12.'"

This is her father, presumably in PR mode (for himself and for her).

Who knows what really happened?

I've always thought Will Smith to be a first class guy. It appears that he works real hard to be a good father.

Sounds a line from one of those sitcoms where everyone "learns something".

White boy just threw down a huge dunk for the Badgers. Down by 1 with 30 seconds to go.

I love the homonym created by the name of TV personality... Willow Bay.

Unreal 3 point shot from halfcourt by the Badgers to tie the game. Overtime!

Good for her, if the story is real. Congratulations to your Wisconsin basketball team, Professor. Between Wisconsin and Illinois there have been two big upsets in just 3 days.

I'm waiting for the Honey Boo-Boo white trash version.

The more interesting question is why Will Smith, who has more money than God (despite precious little talent), is so determined to turn his offspring into child stars.

Willow's beginning to crack like a 6-yr-old Romanian gymast. They need to pay attention to the part that she had a difficult time on tour with "Whip My Hair."

Trying to tempt her with Uncle Jay Z and Auntie Beyonce?

Whatever.

Well, if that's true, good for Willow. Sounds like her parents are pushing her and her brother into show biz even if they're not suited for it (and I have no idea whether either of them is). Good for her for just wanting to be a kid.

There was a girl on American Idol one year, think her name was Paris. She had a famous Aunt and some other singers in the family. She had decided at one point to give up singing and to become a doctor instead. Her family begged her to reconsider. What kind of parent would rather their kid go into show business then become a doctor?

If I were the Smiths, I would tell my kids that after they finish college, if they're still interested in show business, I would help them..but a college degree would be an absolute must.

College degree in what?

For what purpose?

Will Smith names his daughter, Willow?

That's as bad as Choom naming his, Bo.

I think Ben Brust might have a chance at a lady or two tonight. Holy shit! Badgers mens BB are fun as hell to watch play.

Groucho Marx's mom, for one.

Willow beats the heck out of Apple.

The sort that thinks she might get all the debt without completing the course and becoming a doctor.

She might not have the gumption to "make it" as a singer either, but changing her mind would probably cost less.

So, in lieu of a café, what's everyone's take on Ben Carson?

She's smart.

Ben Carson's smart, too. Very.

There's no way to know if Will Smith pushes his kids where they don't want to go, or if they said they wanted to and he's encouraging them to stick it out through the times it turns out not to be all fun and wonderful.

I mean, my 15 year old has a *job* to do a series of drawings for a lady who is going to *pay* her for it. Can I get her to work on them? Heck no. Sure, it sounded like fun and wow what a great opportunity, and I'm stuck wondering if I should lay down the law and force the issue or if I should just let her fail, because laying down the law might get her to the payoff, no matter how horrible the process is, but does she learn to stick with something if I'm the one who did it?

I imagine all parents have the same issues. Do you *let* your kid quit her paper route?

If Willow doesn't want to take on the additional obligation, not starting the project seems the smart thing to do. And if she gets to say "no" then I don't think that we can view Dad as an over-bearing stage-father.

Will and Jada Pinkett Smith are in show business and so is their son Jaden. It looks as though they've raised a well grounded little girl who's seen what show business is and has decided to have her childhood. Good for her.

Apples and oranges.
The Marx family was dirt-poor living in a tenement/Jewish ghetto in NYC and needed a way out of poverty.
The Smith family is farking rich as can be and don't need the money in any way shape or form.

So stop trying to use relativism make this an equivalent situation; it isn't.

I'm glad the The Fresh Prince is using his clout to destroy every movie classic that stars a kid with his remakes. Who didn't love his Karate Kid redeux with his own kid mugging for the cameras? Just making more than twenty times my lifetime earnings for this one turd is just a bonus.

Who cares if it's true?

I'm still stuck on the gyrations Jada and Will must have gone through when they "branded" their kids.

Will? OH! OH! OH! Yeah good for our little girl.

Jada n? EH! EH! EH! Now wait just a minute!

Gotta trade me your "a" for an "e", woman. There isn't gonna be a frenchifried Jadan Smith, nor a J.Dan Smith in this family.

Little Orphan Annie was about the whitest comic strip character ever created, rather right wing to boot.
It's bad enough "Annie" was filmed once , but a remake has already been done.
