"Sarah Palin: A political obituary."

The Washington Post teases its readers like this:

The headline at the link is different: "What Sarah Palin meant." She is gone. The living human shell that once contained Sarah Palin still walks the earth, but Sarah Palin, the repository of political meaning, is dead.

WaPo readers feel a chill of relief and ease down into another Chris Cillizza column. It's his column on the occasion of Palin's parting ways with Fox News, and he's got nothing new to say about her, other than that now, she's gone. Really dead. Ding dong.

The picture accompanying the article is very telling.

Palin is gearing up in full leather for a motorcycle ride. This girl likes action. I think that, in fact, she doesn't have time for the pansy press that is obsessed with nothing except the pursuit of notoriety.

She's got enough money and she likes hunting, fishing, Harleys and hanging out with her family. She's got her priorities straight.

Shit, if she wasn't married, I'd ask her for a date, and I'd propose a cross country Harley tour as the first date.

She's cool.

Of the four people in the 2008 race, Mrs. Palin was the most qualified. Please note that that is a relative judgement, not an absolute judgement. She was not really qualified to be President.

The other three were two elderly gentlemen and a neophyte who were totally unqualified.

Biden has suffered from two brain aneurisms and is brain-damaged. He has a history of bizarre actions and statements, including utterly stupid lies. McClain has a very long history of psychological instability if not outright lunacy.

And then there is the One. Absolutely no qualifications of any kind. Brain-washed throughout his life into ignorance and delusion. A malignant narcissist who openly wants to tear down the USA, its legal/constitution structure and its economy in order to establish some sort of Marxist/racist fantasy state.

The fact that this quartet of clowns survived the cut and competed for the Presidency is a diagnostic clue that the USA is finished. I hope its death and decay are slow enough that I can enjoy my retirement. I pray for my children and younger relatives.

I think that the Post chose the accompanying pic because they thought it was unflattering.

Quite the contrary.

Don't count Palin out. She is up to something and cut FOX loose so she could act independently. She has excellent instincts and is a fast learner.

Maybe she's gone for voice lessons.

If she is gone, I will miss her more for the nutty reaction she tends to bring out of the left and the press (but I repeat myself).

Watch the 'Palinization' of Rand Paul, as Althouse has predicted.
It won't be so easy with a man, which says a lot about our times.

Palin fans are particularly good at self-deception. Fox cut her loose, not the other way around.

Palin is still in Hollywood's OODA loop. Julianne Moore awarded a SAG to Tina Fey with a 'you betcha' just this weekend.

Palin has money now and has made her mark on the political scene. She could fade away and have nothing to feel bad about. Will she? I wouldn't count on it.

Right now there is a market for a conservative news channel. Fox, despite all the spittle flecked hysteria aimed at it from the left, is more or less a centrist organization. The rest of the mainstream media is solidly leftist. Should a new conservative outlet gain cable access, Palin would fit in well there.

D.C. and NYC elites are now so faggy and wimpy that a tough, action oriented woman who knows how to shoot a gun scares the hell out of them.

Palin is the kind of woman I grew up with in my teenty tiny hometown in Illinois.

She's got a great life. I hope she's enjoying it.

Choak on it Freder. You can have your faggy wimpdom.

She's about as dead as Sullivanism is.

It is the Xanax free Winter of the progressive mind. Palin is 'dead'. Chasing Romney around to the beaches shops and parks fails to satisfy. The new narratives have yet to be solidified with the the Jindals, Rubios and Ayottes. The liberal oxygen needed to survive is dangerously thin.

haha...the fiction in here is hilarious.

The liberal/progressive wish in NYC, and in Woodstock, is that those redneck whites in flyover country would just commit suicide and stop being so crude and embarassing.

I've had a few Facebutt discussions with the libs/progs about this. They're convinced that the election was the stake in the heart.

The hipster is defined by his reflex hatred of the white middle class, particularly those in the south and the midwest.

So far in the comments we see the value of Palin. No one really takes her seriously but those who think she means something, like Freder and machine.

Which means. of course that Freder and machine should not be taken seriously. Its a test and you failed.

This statement (complete with spelling errors) just demonstrates my hypothesis that your average Palin fan has the emotional and intellectual maturity of your slightly dull eighth grader.

With a D next to her name, She would've been the champion of the little guy, the fighter taking on corruption in her own party! The one who said NO to the special interests!

But sadly, she's an R and thus a know-nothing, illiterate, dimwitted, easily-fooled gun nut basketball player from Backwater Hicktown, USA who births troglodytes and whores and who inspires maniacs to kill Congresswomen.

Did I get that right?

Yawn. She's a monkey-fucker. Dead to me.

It's been amazing watching the left tear at her, though. The farce election of 2008---with their relentless scrutiny of her and their non-scrutiny of our now Big Chief Nigger---really is perpetual.

The perpetual campaign.

The Anchorage area of Alaska is running short of natural gas for the winter of 2014. This is a serious issue when temps regularly are >20 F below zero. As Governor, Palin had a detailed and practical plan to solve this which was derailed by intense green and Democrat opposition. She's no dummy by any stretch of the imagination.

Don't count out the Obama fan club who claimed they didnt have to worry about putting gas in their car or paying their mortgage.

Every side has their nirwits. Palin notwithstanding.

Fox News, which was sliding ever so to the Left (I'm betting somebody has something on Murdoch in that phone hacking thing) offered her less money and she said, "See ya".

Not the words of someone desperate for another interview with Greta.

She's been kicking Democrat ass for 5 years now and the Lefties are engaging in some more wishful thinking.

Whistling past the graveyard. Word is, she's contemplating a Senate run.

Yes, as a populist, she might have fit better in the Dem party, except she lived in Alaska, and the Republican party, while still corrupt, is much less corrupt than the Democratic party nationally.

I don't think that she ever fit in well at Fox News. She still had the speech patterns and language of the working middle class, and not the upper middle class, which is what you mostly see on Fox.

As was noted in another thread this morning, the upper middle class portion of the Republican party is uncomfortable with this segment of the party that she connects with so well. It is populist, highly patriotic, etc., and a lot less flexible than much of the party leadership. And, yes, they form the bulk of the inconvenient Tea Party, which is why they aren't going away.

Not sure where she is going to show up again, but expect, and, yes, even hope, that she does. Might fit better over at Beck's Blaze TV, or on talk radio. We shall see, and if we don't, it will still be all good, showing that she isn't a life-time politician, one of the ideals of much of the Republican party.

Well, the Dems stole a Senate seat in Alaska last time around, U.S. attorneys visibly going after the Republican senator, with, what turned out, after the election, to be no evidence. My memory is that in the other Senator's race, the Dem came in third, after the winning write-in and the Republican. The Dem seat should be an easy Rep pickup, esp. with Palin as the nominee. And, I expect that an iconic maverick conservative who has won state wide election there should be able to get the nomination.

I wish she could have done that Senate run in 2010, after first moving to Arizona...

The insecurity and anxiety exhibited around Sarah Palin is insane.
They have to constantly reinforce their delusions or the insanity just becomes too obvious.
They are still celebrating that pitiful lame Game Change movie.

The fact that this post has only, so far, moved 38 people to write in their support or denunciation of Sarah shows that Fox was probably right in offering her a pay cut. She may still be able to attract voters in Alaska, and I hope she wins a Senate seat there, but she's no longer a ratings grabber here.

Why did Fox re-sign Karl Rove? That seems like a dumb idea. Is Dick Morris still on the paid guest roster?
