Based on the colors of the wrappings, I'm guessing it's a box of chocolate covered cherries!

Fortunately, it's not.

All that packaging.

Not very green.

Not another Midwesterner who doesn't like chocolate?

This makes me smile.

I love chocolate covered cherries, especially with dark chocolate. Lots of people think I'm weird because of that, but there must be a lot of us,to see so many boxes (unfortunatley usually milk chocolate) out at Christmas in stores.

Santorum has suspended his campaign, according to Fox and Rush.

You didn't videotape the unpacking and upload it to YouTube?

It should be well-rested after its several-months-long vacation in a quiet postal facility in Queens!

And, contrary to its appearance, I don't think the package has anarchist sympathies. But you never know, after spending that long around postal employees...

Everybody is talking about the gift, but this is a cafe post, is it not? So I'm going to change the topic.

FB acquaintance of mine just posted the following status:
"Fact of the day: The US is one of three nations in the world that does not provide paid maternity leave. The other two that don't are Papua New Guinea and Swaziland."

They're in their early 20s. What struck me about this post, other than that it is misleading by implying that there is no mandated maternity leave in the U.S. (when really it depends on state law) is his conflation of mandating that a company provide something to its employees and the government providing that same thing Maybe I'm reading too much into language here, but I find this very telling about how people in my generation find the purpose of government.

Actually, I find it a little disturbing.

Or better early. 2 weeks early for us. Vianne Rose was born at 12:43am on Easter Sunday! she's a bit small but very healthy.

A wonderful Easter gift!

Partridge, my wife has 5.5 months total. It's a state issue not federal.

I snarf down a tiny bit of 90% cocoa bar every day, half of a square, which works out to 1/20 of the bar, or about a dime's worth.

You don't need more than that.

It starts out too bitter but you come to like it. Small quantity helps.

The 85%, 90% and 95% bars all taste the same, in that quantity. Pick whichever is cheapest.

Brown Thrasher video this morning.

The thrasher repeats calls mostly twice.

Catbird once, Mockingbird three or more times.

rhhardin, I like Michel Cluizel "Noir Infini", which are 99% cocoa. An acquired taste for most, for me the only sort of chocolate I like: without sweetness or milk.

Wow! Congratulations, Paddy!

Talk about gifts!

I love milk chocolate.

But Meade and I are doing a low-carb thing right now.

Hence the brats... and so on.

Mmmmm, chocolate.

I too have some good dark chocolate most days as does my wife.

And congratulations to Paddy O on his new bundle of joy.

Does anyone else see the hypocrisy of our government insisting that everyone eventually be able to prove that they have health insurance (under threat of tax/penalty) BUT NOT proof of citizenship???

Cue Rod Serling!!!
