Are they phonetically syllablizing (?) everything for kids or the adults?

I remember, back about 1958, the country was fascinated by the kid who won it when she got cyzygy.

And everybody asked, "OK, what is it?".

No, I looked it up before I typed it in.

Cyzygy is a Greek word meaning an alignment of planets or celestial bodies

The OED agrees with Tom that it is syzygy.
