"Sheryl had checked herself and her 12-year-old daughter into a hotel Wednesday night and returned home Thursday to find it ablaze and Stack gone."

Before his suicide plane crash, Joseph Stack had scared his wife and daughter out of their house.

A good news and bad news situation.

Really? Go ahead, what's the good news?

The good news is that she successfully did what she had to do--escape a threatening situation and save the life of herself and her child.

She expressed sorrow and condolences, making her clearly different than her murderous husband. She is not a wacko.

That's the good news.

The story said he also hated the Catholic Church, up there with the IRS, so I want to thank him for not plunging his plane into the cathedral, which is beautiful and historic and located right downtown in Austin. If he timed it with Ash Wednesday services, he could have got a high death count. It also would have been ironic.

Are you so dense that you can't see the good news? The good news is that he didn't kill his completely innocent wife and completely innocent daughter.

They will certainly need lots of help to get by in the future, but they'll have one.

And that's the good news.

She did the (smart and) right thing. Too many women end up dead because they're afraid to leave or they think it makes them a failure/bad person, somehow.

KYLiz and rh are exactly right. Very good news, indeed. And Flo is right, also - scum like that always do the family first.

I am thinking of the way that Amish community embraced the family of the man that held their school hostage and killed so many innocents.
I hope everyone will imitate their example and embrace this innocent woman and her daughter.

Okay, I get it! I just don't feel the silver lining thing out of stories like this. Just my nature I guess.

The good news is it wasn't part of a viral marketing campaign for "The Crazies" after all. Or was that the bad news?

WV=edness: the extent to which a movie is similar to those made by Ed Wood.

Let's hope the mad man had purchased good life insurance for the family and waited out the 2 year incontestable clause for suicides.

Embracing the innocent family is easy because they are truly innocent and it's will make an awesome photo-op. Victims, heroes, and villains.

I had to get some forms at the local IRS office yesterday. The employees were busy setting up anti-aircraft guns in the parking lot!

[I am kidding!]
