I was excited about another Democratic candidates debate, but then I saw it was just a "forum," that is, a series of individual interviews.

Why is that called a forum? Candidates sit for interviews all the time, so what's interesting about a sequence of interviews? That it was in an auditorium full of people rather than a closed up studio? Voices reverberated. Applause interrupted.

I sat through the whole thing, not that I wasn't reading or doing crosswords on my iPad most of the time. I figured there'd be a transcript in the morning, and I could cherry pick a few things I'd remembered. When I woke up this morning, before I went searching for the transcript — never to find one — I pushed myself to remember something from last night. Come on, Althouse, think. I thought of one thing: Bernie Sanders is annoyed by the sounds high-tech devices make. It's somewhere in here...

... along with "How many pair of underwear do I have?" and "Am I really Larry David?" (which is a reference to this, on SNL). Ah, yes, the noisy tech at 1:30. He also says "People think I'm grumpy."

Now, why did I watch all that? I do not know. I also remember that Martin O'Malley said he owns a kilt, but only because somebody gave it to him, and that Hillary Clinton regards "hush puppies" as both a food and a type of shoes. I can't believe I spent my Friday night on that, but I did go out for a late lunch...

... and I sometimes wonder if anything makes sense anymore. I can only hope that Bad Lip Reading doesn't pass up this "forum" because it's not a debate. I really do look there for meaning. Meade and I have watched the last debate on BLR dozens of times...

... Can I help you?!

Bernie comes across as a personable, straightforward guy with a good sense of humor. Wouldn't mind sharing a meal or a couple of drinks with him. Still wouldn't vote for him though.

Baked brussel sprouts with a maple syrup glaze and sprinked with rough grated fresh parmesian cheese.
Really.
Anything to make those fuckers edible.

Did they give equal time to their African-American candidate?

The best thing about this posting is the "endorse Ben Carson" sidebar ad.

I guess chicken and doughnuts is like chicken and waffles, which are a venerable combo.

It's functioning as a crypt. It encloses what is rigorously kept separate from the forum, while the concealment system presents itself in public.

It hides something that you can't confront.

The menu copywriter is a failure. Pustules of sour cream excreted upon a lifeless bird.......One eats Brussels sprouts to be virtuous. The whole concept of deep dried Brussels sprouts defeats the purpose. It sounds pointlessly decadent. Gilding the Brussels sprout.

Chicken and doughnuts is also a lot like pizza and anal.

Be careful for the "drizzled with honey."

Euphemism, I believe.

I am Laslo.

Two posts to allow the punters to whine about black people and one to give them space to whine about Democrats. I am guessing that things aren't going all that smoothly at the moment in Republican World.

Depends on what the sense of sense is.

If the Prog pursuit of power makes sense, then lots of things make sense. If not, not.

@ARM. I am happy with the R field. Many choices, with a variety of ideas on key topics. I have more than one candidate who I would be thrilled to vote for.

BTW speaking of D debates, how many D debates with be on Fox?

If you guessed zero, you would right.

Also planned, a selection of fava beans and a choice Chianti that will be served in private.

No, nothing goes as "smoothly" as the Democrat Party except perhaps a cemetery at midnight.

There's a sandwich shop, I think it's in Costa Mesa where all the sndwiches are on waffles with different syrups.

I saw Madcow throw a softball to Bernie. I can't even remember what she asked. It was the angry hysteria on her face, and his violent explosion of self-righteousness that resulted, which made me switch the channel. What a weird bunch are the Demos at this juncture. It's like a sick cult.

I switched over to watch Steven Seagal in Hard to Kill as he escaped from some hospital as a psychopath tried to nail him in an elevator. A nurse helped him escape, and they got in a car after the deaths of many of their colleagues, and rode off into the sunset.

Good for them. It's how I felt in switching off the Democratic "forum."

Oh my god that is SO embarrassing.

Good thing you don't embarrass easily, I guess.

Certainly they have nothing to match this classic meltdown - O'Reilly calling George Will a hack and Will calling O'Reilly a liar. For the uninformed, they are both right. The Republican establishment and Right Wing Media Industrial Complex are have apparently entered the death cage, where only one comes out alive.

With left-wing "fluffer" Rachel Maddow...

What did Obama say about the Republicans not being able to handle the CNBC debate panel?

O'Reilly is not a Republican snd says so all the time. You and many lefties, like a couple of my children (both lawyers), think Republicans, especially conservatives, are O'Reilly fans. Nothing could be further from the truth. You might venture out of your bubble to learn this.

For example.

And more.

Or here.

Never said he was. It is different incentives for the Republican establishment and Right Wing Media Industrial Complex that are the cause of the conflict.

I don't know what you are talking about. There are 16 candidates for the GOP nomination. They have differing agendas and the GOP "establishment" is the old business lobby that has largely supported Democrats lately because it is in their interest to do so., Some of us call that "crony capitalism" and others call it fascism.

"Right Wing Media Industrial Complex" Could you be any more dense ? There is a huge left wing media complex that is currently trashing Carson. They even coordinate messages via such lists as "JournOlist." it is a cabal. The right has talk radio and the decreasingly credible Fox News.

There are serious think tanks on the right like Heritage and Hoover. On the left there is Brookings which just fired a member because he disagreed with Fauxcohantas.

You really need some new sources. The Democrats look old and very white. That worries them.
