You cannot go anywhere you want! I have proof!

Valley of Fire Highway is a connection between Routes 167 & 169 in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and Interstate-15 near the Moapa River Indian Reservation. So unless you want to go to Lake Mead, the Indian reservation, the Valley of Fire National Park, wish to die of exposure in an off road adventure/car crash with exquisite scenery, or wish to die being eaten by irradiated cannibal mutants or whatever happens to live on the ominously unnamed side streets, I dare say that there are slim pickings on that highway. There's probably not even a Burger King where I can have it my way. To make this redundant, Route 167 & 169 naturally flow into I-15, making this entire jaunt completely optional and unnecessary!

On the plus side, if I ran someone over probably no one would notice for weeks. So there is that. Never really saw that as a pastime of the Althouse household, but one learns something new every day.

5 States where the middle class is being bulldozed

The clear winner (or loser) in the race to the bottom has been Wisconsin, losing 5.7% of its middle class households since 2000. Average median income has dropped by roughly $9,000 annually, and costs of living have gone up as well.

When I used to go to the Red Flag exercises at Nellis, we always spent a day going the other direction to Mount Charleston ski resort (in summer). There was a nice little bar there, and the drive was scenic (if my memory is any good).

Red Rock canyon I think was part of that trip. Nice place to try and get sunset pictures.

American Pharoah will probably be running at Saratoga next weekend. I may just sidle on over.

I have never traveled out west- thanks for the pics over the past few days.

Amazing how accurate the colors of the landscape are compared with the Roadrunner and Coyote cartoons.
