"I believe death is the ultimate freedom."

"So I’d rather have my freedom as soon as I can get it."

ADDED: Meadhouse dialogue:
MEADE (on reading this post): So when she killed the guy, she was setting him free.

ALTHOUSE: Liberating his soul from his body. What's that line in a movie — "Go ahead and shoot, you'll be doing me a favor"? Casablanca!

MEADE: I hope you never murder me.

ALTHOUSE: I won't.

MEADE: Just for the record, I don't consider death the ultimate freedom.

So capital punishment is what Arias wants. Isn't that an argument against capital punishment?

I wonder if that's a ploy to get the jury to give her a life sentence. Of course, whether she gets a life or a death sentence, she'll spend the rest of her life in prison.

Give me liberty or give me death is an understandable assertion. But first she must face a community that needs to give her justice. Call that Reality Therapy.

We could put her in one of those maximum security prisons where the residents are only allowed brief human contact and very little external stimulation. We Americans torture thousands of people that way every day. But she would still be alive.

Win-win!

I'd say give her life without parole, anything but what she wants, but some Lefty nitwit would want to kick her loose in 5 years.

She should have used Hillary as her lawyer.

Shit, she and Obama skated free from four deaths.

I didn't follow this case. But with this murder, all the pretty young things abusing school kids, and Clinton dusting dead bodies off her like so much dirt, one has to be impressed at modern feminism.

Well-behaved women don't make history, and feminism is turning out some awesome examples.

Even with the death penalty, she'll serve fifteen years as appeal after appeal after appeal are processed through the court system. Some appelas will be a mandatroy part of the death penalty process; others will be entered by do-gooders who oppose the death penalty.

So good luck, littly Missy Narcissist.

Of course, she could pull the Gosnell defense and claim that she was merely performing a late term abortion of her boyfriend.

Because life doesn't begin until a woman says it begins.

She'd be creepy even in death.

Lets be generous and give that murderous bitch what she wants. Strap her in the chair and throw the switch.

Maybe the State should hire the good doctor to the state executioner. He certainly has the skills to perform very late term retrospective abortions.

Not to mention the other 300+ deaths from Fast and Furious for Obama.

I have the opposite problem at my house. The wife points out that if she ever disappears, there is enough blood DNA on the bathroom tiles (leg shaving) to convict me...

If I was a juror for sentencing, I'd request "You Keep Me Hangin' On" be piped into her jail cell 24/7.

Borderline personality ploy to manipulate the jury. Quite typical actually.

I think they should give her what she asks for as if she actually wanted it.

But that is just me.

I didn't follow this case so I don't know how this picture became "evidence" but...

Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.

Death isn't the "ultimate freedom", it's "only the beginning".

If she'd used a bomb instead she'd have a teaching gig at Columbia in 30 years.

Academe hearts them some bombers.

While them that defend what they cannot see
With a killer’s pride, security
It blows the minds most bitterly
For them that think death’s honesty
Won’t fall upon them naturally
Life sometimes must get lonely

Not yet, they haven't.

In fact, things have just started heating up.

She assumes that there's no judgment after death, but Hamlet saw more clearly:

To sleep, perchance to Dream; Aye, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause. There's the respect
That makes Calamity of so long life:
For who would bear the Whips and Scorns of time,
The Oppressor's wrong, the proud man's Contumely,
The pangs of disprized Love, the Law’s delay,
The insolence of Office, and the Spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his Quietus make
With a bare Bodkin? Who would Fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscovered Country, from whose bourn
No Traveller returns, Puzzles the will,
And makes us rather bear those ills we have,
Than fly to others that we know not of.

I've read of a few cases where people on death row refuse all appeals and get executed after a few years. It's rare but it happens. If she is sentenced to death, we'll know soon enough if she's sincere about preferring execution to living for decades in prison.

I don't think murder of your domestic partner should be considered a capital crime. A stiff fine or, in some extreme cases, perhaps a prison sentence should be sufficient to curtail this regrettable practice. If your wife wants to stab you thirty or forty times, she is clearly overreacting to a lifted toilet seat, but some of the blame should be apportioned to the partner who inspired such rage. Why is this not a feminist issue?

What a waste. All because she couldn't keep her bat-shit crazy in check. Make her suffer for what she did. There isn't enough of that going around. Oh wait, shit, forgot that Urkel was making us pay for the sequester.

If she gets the death penalty and Castro gets life, do you consider that justice?

Clyde said...

Is she "briar-patching"?

Clyde said...

I was chatting with a friend of mine and we both liked the idea of Arias and that Cleveland kidnapper-rapist sharing a cell. I'd even give Arias a knife. It would make for a great reality TV show. I'd call it "And Justice For All."

ken in tx said...

The best outcome would be for her to get life in prison and be killed by another prisoner, but that rarely happens to women.

Justice is when the punishment fits the crime.
Justice is no more the same sentence for everyone than equality is the same income for everyone.

Note to self:

Add to marriage vows: "I promise not to murder you."

Any liberation from your physical existence will be strictly metaphysical, i.e., through side splitting humor or mind blowing sex.
