Canadians complaint that their new plastic $100 bills smell like maple syrup.

Link.

Maybe the inconvenient truth is that maple syrup smells like plastic.

My daughter thinks honey smells like sweat. She has no idea what BO really is, I guess.

Yeah, my Dad once told me that if you can smell a plastic bottle, it is going to leach into water, and you will drink the plastic.

Anyway, the comments at the link seem more interested in what is happening behind the closed doors than concerns over health. People with too much time, like me!!! And I might point out Ann.

Yes, but what does it TASTE like?

Wallet lint.

Wallet lint.

Depends. If it's from a teen-aged boy, it might smell like the latex from a years-old, unused condom.

Is it really maple syrup or that Pancake Syrup you get at McDougal's?

Somebody made a joke on the internet or Twitter and the idea was planted in people's brain. Just as many people complain that their bills DON'T smell like maple syrup, btw. They think they got ripped off.

First World problem.

If they're made of plastic do they stretch? Do they develop static? Can you tear them in half to insure someone will come back?

So you're the one!

You're not supposed to do that here, either. It's defacing the currency.

It's funny that the Canuck gummint would make ther new $100 bill smell like maple syrup, since they made the maple leaf on the new $20 bill look like the non-native Norway maple leaf instead of the native Sugar Maple leaf.

Smells like overcorrection.

I think the US greenback smells pretty damn sweet.

Given that both US and Canadian currency has tested the highest in the world for cocaine contamination, how much we wanna bet this was first discovered by people looking for an easy high? ;)

This might be an exhibit idea for the Maple Syrup Museum
