A lone Walker-supporter with a Gadsden flag and a lady with a dog who mostly worries about the poor.

2 individuals — and 1 canine — who talked to Meade today at the Capitol:

This begins with some heckling in which the Gadsden guy — "Jim" — dishes it out and takes it, and it ends with a short walk up to the damaged door, with random music that seems intentionally synched.

Considering what's happening elsewhere in WI, in Merrill and Milwaukee, I hope Jim has somebody riding shotgun.

WV "undon" what a stripper on a PBS beg-a-thon does.

Is that Drew Carey?

I love how "Jim" criticizes the anti-bill protestors for being there and wrecking the grass...but, like....he's there too. He also sounds incredibly jealous of his teacher in-laws.

@edutcher: I heard about those letters to business owners while I was listening to the radio this morning. Absolutely ridiculous. How can anyone see this as anything but a mafia-like blackmail tactic?!

I admit it, I'm really impressed by the meadia. How did he interview himself?

Yeah, but he's on the sidewalk.

I remember when working people could afford a cabin and a boat. Those were the days.

The conservative credo: It's OK to envy someone who makes 10% more than you do -- it's unacceptable to envy someone who makes 10-100X what you do.

MERRILL(WAOW)-- Emotions ran high as ralliers took to the Lincoln County Courthouse, calling for the recall of Democratic State Senator Jim Holperin, one of the 14 senators who fled the state more than three weeks ago.

Organizers say the rally was originally scheduled at Club 64 in Merrill, but they had to change locations after business owners say they received more than 50 phone calls threatening to destroy their business and cause physical harm if the rally took place.

Protestors both for and against the recall showed up. Even though they initially kept their distance, Holperin supporters engulfed the recall effort, and that's when the situation turned tense.

"They circled around us, and they're bullying us. They have a loud horn and they're trying to intimidate people that would like to come and sign the petition," said Kim Simac, recall leader, "I do think that this is an intimidation ploy."

Simac says protestors even got involved with their petitions.

"We had a lady come up and write profanity and rip some of them right on our table.... so I guess that's what democracy looks like to them."

Don't people walk on the grass for the farmer's market?

"How come you're so angry?"

"You're obviously very angry."

Haha. See how *civil* we are?

No. They walk on the sidewalk.

fls, those teacher have a cabin, boat, two cars and the summer off. Are you saying they are not working class?
Doris, walking on frozen grass kills it as pictures show.

To summarize:
The guy said stop taking my money.

The woman said give us more of your money.

That simple disagreement is what the whole week was about, but there was some other stuff that happened too.

FLS, I don't care if they are 2X or 100X richer than me. I love rich people - they pay most of the bills and are the ones writing everybody's paychecks - public and private. It's how they get the money they get. Is it through merit or corruption? There are cases on both sides of that, but unionized public employees are one of them, and the biggest and most direct form of the corruption. You are either against corruption or not. BTW, most corruption is legal.

"I remember when working people could afford a cabin and a boat. Those were the days."

Those would be the days before public employee unions screwed up the social contract.

That's because most families lived in 1200-1500 sq ft homes, had one TV, one telephone line, one family car (maybe a used pickup or a used second car if mom worked), no credit cards and had savings in the bank because they didn't buy their kids $200 sneakers, kids wore JC Penney and Sears, not status labels made in overseas sweatshops and they walked or bussed to school. Nor did they eat out an average of three times a week, or vacation at resorts as if they were millionaires, they drove to the lake and mom prepared the meals. Nor did they buy all the other planned-obsolescent consumer shit we waste money on nowadays.

The middle class has made some really bad financial choices over the last 30 years, credit card debit and unaffordable mortgages (buying too much house) are the most glaring examples. When the average family has 11 credit cards and an underwater mortgage they have only themselves to blame. How those en suites, stainless appliances and granite counter tops working for them now?

How about you? Is your house paid for? Retirement funded? Debt free? If not who's fault is that?
