I almost forgot! It's my bloggiversary!

I'm surprised that slipped my mind. Maybe because I turned 60 on the 12th. And I don't mean I'm getting old and therefore forgetful. I just got distracted by the big 0 birthday. Anyway, I'm getting in under the wire here in the Central Time Zone.

The blog is 7 years old today.

AND: I should note, once again, that I have posted every single day — including weekends, holidays, etc. — in each of the 7 years.

It's okay. Have your fun. Because we (non-Meade) commenters all got to kiss Jake Ryan over a birthday cake, bathed in the light of a thousand flickering candles.

Happy Blogging Birthday and Happy Birthday to our host again..

Happy Double Birthday! You are and amazing blogging machine! I have missed only a few weeks of reading, at least since I discovered your blog several years ago from Instapundit, which I found from Andrew Sullivan, who I discovered while reading Salon.com (back when it was free), which I found after searching (pre-Google) for Anne Lamott, who I heard on Michael Feldman's "Whad'Ya Know?" on NPR about 12 years ago. You and Reynolds have survived-- I rarely listen to, or read the others any more. May you have many more years of happy blogging.

I check in almost every day. Happy blog-anniversary.

maybe we commenters should have a 'commenterversary' for when we first commented! That would be a hoot...

Congratulations on seven years of daily blogging. I have been reading every day for the past five. Thank you for being one of the bright spots of my day. AND Happy 60th Birthday!

Congrats!

Seems like only yesterday we were flailing away in lynx.

Is it remarkable that Althouse posted everyday considering all the things that have to work for her to have this accomplishment?

I'm not taking anything away from her feat.. I'm only commenting on the robustness (if that's a word) of our brave new world..

Happy birthday. I will always be older than you.

How exciting! I've been reading since...I think 2005. I started reading Instapundit in 2004 and you followed quickly behind, natch. Your commentors are intimidating so I didn't start commenting until recently.

Let's see if you can break the 4,000 post threshold this year!

HARD work... or not Althouse?

I'll bet Meade is a little disappointed about that unbroken streak.

I can't even claim I've opened my eyes every day of the last 7 years.

Happy Birthdays Annie.

...one year and 6 days and I hit the big six-oh too.

Extreme feminine beauty is always disturbing, Madam.

How I picture Althouse Seducing Meade Two Years Early

Althouse: You only take a mate once, every seven years?

Mr. Meade: The seven-year cycle is biologically inherent in all Commenters. At that time the mating drive outways all other motivations.

Althouse: And is there nothing that can disturb this cycle, Mr. Meade?

Mr. Meade: Extreme feminine beauty is always disturbing, Madam.

January seems to be your month for beginnings. Like whimsy, I was led here by Insta. Maybe he should get a cut of your Amazon funds.

Considering you've been swept off your feet, conlawproffed, sojourned to another state for a little companionship, and never missed a beat, an admirable feat.

Kudos, Madame.

PS There's an interesting typo on the previous screen regarding birthdays. You may want to ask Blogger about it.

And to celebrate, you're in the WSJ.

Is that a first?

Congratulations! Even in the times when I've been busy and distracted by my own life it is good to always know where a party is going on.

@Lem 11:24 PM. Funny!

Commenter, there is no doubt
What your dreams are all about
All these things you saw in your pajamas
Are a long-range forecast for your blogger

Nah, I don't believe it.

We're grateful for each day of this performance art, this Theatre of Topicks, this blog of majesty, this seat of inert brats, this Madisonian Eden, this divine outpost built by the blogstress for herself, this formidable law blogger, this best diarist on the Internet, this photographer, this refuge, this realm, this Althouse.

Happy 7.

Congrats indeed. Found you pre-Katrina shortly after you fired up the blog. Was solely a reader in those years, then Katrina hit and it took me a few years to put our life, home, business, etc., back together so didn't have much time for the net until I jumped back into the pool in 08 and here I am. And I agree with you--you're a persistently energetic young sixty-something "whippersnapper" of a "web-wench" if nothing else, aren't you? :)

Does not missing one day in seven years make you the Cal Ripken or the Bret Favre of blogging?

AllenS said...

I'm happy for you, Professor. I wish I knew when I first commented, we could celebrate that day also.

Althouse was the firstest blog I ever read. Still the bestest. Professor Althouse, may you always be #1.

Patrick said...

That's quite a record, posting every single day for seven years, especially because the content tends to be interesting. Not many can say they came up with something interesting every day for 7 years.

I don't think...check that, I know there isn't another blog site on the internet that comes close to the catholicity of this site. Which is why it draws so many back. Differences of opinion with the blog mistress are as nothing compared to the rich variety of her offerings. Thank you for this veritable omnibus.

Thanks for your diligence and dedication, Professor. Your blog seldom fails to edify, amuse, or amaze. (My employer may be contacting you about reimbursement for all that lost productivity, however!)

I've no idea how you managed to post Every. Single. Day. but I'm grateful that you have managed to do so.

Congratulations.

Happy Bloggiversary. I have been reading you for almost that long and have always appreciated your blog, even when I don't agree with you (Nov '08).

Congrats, Ann. Quite the accomplishment. And to be successful at it is even bigger. Amazing, even. You are an inspiration. I wish (sometimes) it was more of my goal, as opposed to something I found myself doing, but my head's elsewhere.

Coketown,

Your commentors are intimidating so I didn't start commenting until recently.

Yea, the words seem to leap out at ya, huh?

Congrats, professor, you are one lucky lady who made her own luck.

The Wall Street Journal marks the occasion of your bloggiversary by quoting you ---see NOTABLE & QUOTABLE---Ann Althouse on Tuscon and political speech--

Althouse's blog is like no other blog and the commenters are not only intelligent, well read, but also often hilariously funny.
