Jim Pinkerton and Jane Hamsher: The Essence of a Relationship in 45 Seconds.

That’s uncanny!

A girlfriend and I had that exact same dynamic going on.

She too was a robot from outer space controlled by a device that looked like an orchid.

It seems to be the full BH.

Having said that, I quit a couple of minutes in when they started their National journal Schtick.

she: he's mainstream
he: NJ says he's left
she name one thing left
he: driver's licenses for illegals
she: that's it? name another
he; you said one
she: john mccain is a right wing whack job who wants to keep us in iraq for 100 years...

that BH is a waste. parrotting BHO talking points versus somebody trying to have a meaningful dialogue

Whenever I watch Jane Hamsher "discuss" something, I'm struck by how closed her mind is. There is only one TRUTH on all topics and onlyl Jane knows it.

Hamsher always makes me think of this song:

"she's a bitch you know, all she's got is blondeness
not even tenderness, yeah, she's cleverless
she'll dump your arse for a model called brendan
he will pay for beautiful surgery 'cause he's full of money

i would have waited like a week or two
but you never tried to reach me
no, you never called me back
you were dating that bleach-blonde girl
if i find her, i swear, you know, i swear, i swear ..."

Pinkerton is not wrong, but it's too much of a stretch to say "Palin is frosting on the cake", and that she counts for only 10% of enthusiasm for the ticket.

Fact is, the 40-something percent support that McCain had previous to his VP pick says more about Obama than any true support for McCain.

Though I run the risk of endless repetition by saying this, the Republicans chose the only Republican who could win this election, and the Democrats chose the only Democrat who could lose it.

Here's an exercise in honesty:

Can any Republican on Althouse tell me that they were overwhelmingly enthusiastic about John McCain, at any point in this campaign prior to August 29?

Or was your support a defaulted choice, because that's who we were saddled with in 2008?

Clearly, since the primaries were won, we all were looking to John McCain to make a Conservative choice for VP. In other words, he was never our guy until, we hoped, he would choose the right running mate alongside him.

I was thinking that he would go for Jindal, but even that was an extreme outside pick. How ironic when he went with the total surprise, and united this Party for a crazy, never-to-be-forgotten two weeks.

Today, we are looking more soberly at the ticket. The enthusiasm remains (I'm sure), but there are problems in this country which favour Democrats, and it is still Barack Obama's election to lose.

Ironically, Afghanistan has never been the battleground in public opinion that Iraq was. Therefore the need for a "warrior President" seems less of a need now.

Who knew a mere 2 years ago that Iraq would play little to no role in the 2008 Presidential election.

P.S.: What I don't like is the renewed insinuations about racism.

Jack Cafferty and others are now back to the "racist" meme in an effort to shame people as momentum starts to swing back to Obama (they want to make sure the momentum keeps increasing by preying on consciences).

I really don't look forward to the collective media chastisement of Americans on November 5.

Cheers,
Victoria

Oy, ain't that the truth.

She has a pixie face, which hides a harpie mind.

BTW, someone get Pinkerton a Kleenex.

I knew from the moment that McCain won the nomination, that he would pick a woman VP.

Nice! That's a keeper.

You're right. And so is Hamsher, partly.
Palin changed everything.

Hell, there's a woman I work with down the hall who talks lefty as all get-out (yet has an inchoate sense of despair over the loss of social order from her childhood years). She is absolutely enthralled with Plain. She's voting for Palin. Mccain, not so much.

I was Googling for an article that I read saying how crucial MI-WI-MN are for this election -- more than PA and OH.

The author made a compelling case that, of those States, Michigan was THE key State to win.

What with her "hockey mom" and blue-collar background, plus that Michigan is second only to Pennsylvania in gun ownership in the US, that this lady is an almost too-good-to-be true asset to winning the State.

Haven't found it, but I read this:

Noting that her eldest son Track spent much of his senior year attending a Michigan high school, Palin told the crowd that she owes many thanks to the Wolverine State - and earned a cheer when she mentioned Track's love of hockey.

``Michigan, you took care of my boy,'' she said. Now, Palin added, he will help take care of them - he will soon be deployed to Iraq with his Army unit.

Wow, I never heard Track spent time away from his parents in Michigan (I presume on a high school hockey scholarship).

What with Romney on McCain's side, I think the Repubs WILL take Michigan, after all.

Jesus, what a savvy move this has turned out to be.

Yes! A Martha Stewart in Amelie's clothing.

Thanks, Paddy! :)

Awesome, Pogo. Reminds me of Rhhardin's feminist-type neighbour who took out her Obama sign from her lawn.

You're not getting a 45-second clip????

I am. That's the whole point of this post.

KCFleming said...

Victoria -she grew up and schooled in Michigan.

vbspurs said...

Right. Good one. Amelie!

I hate to rag on her...but Hamsher reminds me too uncomfortably of this kewpie doll.

Jorge Luis Borges on Harpies. A question I've recently asked is taking Borges's Book of Imaginary Beings, which creature would you match up with McCain, Obama, Palin, Biden?

Stop! You're scaring me.

vbspurs said...

Wow, nice, Bill! A Borges reference so early in the morn.

Although that first illustration is straight out of Art Bell's website...

Jane's is a left-wing talking points robot. Obama is "middle of road" ? Right, and the NYT is objective.

One of the criticisms of J.L.Austin's philosophizing, by his fans, is that he kept things from going wrong by keeping them from starting to go wrong.

Missing the interest of things starting to go wrong.

Hamsher is Cupie Doll cute with the ablative nature of a blowtorch. I'm smitten.

Sometimes Ann is too advanced for me. Is the "essence of the relationship" she's talking about the fact that Hamsher turns her head away when she talks in this clip? Or her general refusal to listen (more evident in other clips and in past episodes)? Or is the former supposed to represent the latter?

Ann Althouse said...

In the 45 second clip, the main thing I see is Pinkerton's lip curling twice.

I LOVE Amélie!!!

Well, truth be told, I love it up until she gets a boyfriend.

I’m jealous that way.
