I look all white, but my dad was black....Those crocodile tears are what you cry. It's a genuine problem. You won't try to work it out at all. You just pass it by....

Yow! Mighty young Ox, Moonie looks a Monkee, pre-poofy hair Daltry with a shirt from hell, but Pete's coat! I'd get in a barney or two for that...

Entwistle said, "The Beatles made better records than us but we could have blown them off the stage."

True.

Excellent documentary about The Who was put out in November.

Now that is the real deal.

Except of course that they are lip synching - no cords on the guitars, no mikes, and how does Pete make his Fender sound just like an acoustic guitar??

Another classic from a different band, about ten years later: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erJc4dzZ3IA

TV was full of lip-synching back then. (And now!)

George picked up the clues, by the way.

Are those John Kerry's missing medals?

Substitute me for him
Substitute my coke for gin
Substitute you for my mum
At least I'll get my washing done....

We're all confused. What's to lose?

Ann Althouse said...

Yeah, there's coke.

There's "get my washing done" = "Iron my shirt."

The song is about the New Hampshire primary!

The music from "Happy Jack" was used in a Hummer commercial. We're DATED! I haven't been so depressed since I heard "Time Won't Let Me" used in an Eckerd's commercial.

All of the lead in songs for the CSI series are Who songs.

Who Are You? CSI Las Vegas
Won't Get Fooled Again CSI Miami
Baba O'Reilly CSI New York

Bands used to be ashamed to sell their songs to advertisers.

Now, they do it and brag about it. For a lot of bands, use in TV ads are the only exposure they can get, since radio has become so formularized.

But who are they substituting for?

Obviously, for the Reps, it's Reagan.

For the Dems...it's JFK (Obama)? Bill (Hillary)? Strawberry Shortcake (Silky Pony)?

John--

This is true. That Ipod commercial gave this little song a boost....
