"I’ve always said you were our leading actress.... I am getting fat and pregnant and mean...."

Judy Garland writes to Katharine Hepburn.

Thank you for posting that article, Ann.

It also mentions Charlton Heston. I was able to see both Hepburn and Heston on stage at the Ahmanson in LA during the '76-77 season while in college (the student ticket price then, in advance: $11.00). Hepburn recreated her Broadway role in A Matter of Gravity, and Heston starred with Deborah Kerr and Andrew Prine in A Long Day's Journey into Night.

The other two plays that season: Maggie Smith and Brian Bedford in The Guardsman, and Richard Thomas in Merton of the Movies.

Always hated the phrase "those were the good old days", but . . . . .

(heavy sigh) . . . . .

I never will forget Janet MacDonald,
To think of here it gives my heart a pang,
I never will forget, how that brave Janet,
Just stood there in the ruins and sang,
And sa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ang...

SAN FRANCISCO, open your Golden Gate.......

A tender hearted girl who wouldn't kill an actor. Love it.

Let's order in pizza and do a Katherine Hepburn movie marathon! Chronological you think? Or box office?

I'd do a Hepburn festival if we could include Seabiscuit and Horse Feathers just to be able to see something a little less horsey faced then Her Imperious Majesty!
