"If this was a microcosm of America, I'd vote for Rudy Giuliani at this point."

Says Bill Maher, as idiot 9/11 Truthers disrupt his show this week. "Ass-kicking is what's called for."

Watch the disarray on the live show, with Bill himself getting involved in rousting a guy from the audience. Bill says that for all the things he's said, the one he gets protests about is for calling the 9/11 conspiracy theorists crazy. Here's the old clip:

On the new show, Maher observes that this was a case of defending Bush. He say's that as if it's odd that the assholes are on the anti-Bush side.

It would have been interesting if Maher had asked those panelists' opinions of the Truther movement. At the very end Sheila Jackson Lee gave some indication of what she'd say. She's apparently one of those who believes freedom of speech means disruptive, rude people can't be criticized without violating their rights.

As much as I disagree with Maher, I am heartened to see him disavow the 9/11 truthers as fringe crazies.

They need to be ejected from the building, to be sure, but from the party as well.

RE: Maher: Would that the powers-that-be at the University of Wisconsin had such intestinal fortitude.

Bilby, it seemed pretty obvious to me that what she started to say was that she wasn't even going to bother making a reference to someone's First Amendment rights, and I find it inconceivable that I would ever vote for Sheila Jackson Lee.

The Libertarian Party?

Sheila Jackson Lee is Al Sharpton in a skirt and a member of Congress. If there's a TV camera rolling on a story about an African-American with a race-based grievance, she's there, whether or not the aggrieved is even one of her constitutents. Jesse Jackson's kid (the Congressman) isn't that big of a race-baiting grandstander. There's enough real racial grievance to go around without the likes of our dear Congressman stirring up crap. You can hardly watch local TV news in Houston without one more loudmouthed appearance by the dear Congressman.

I wouldn't mind the Congressman's opposition to the Iraq war if she weren't engaging in the same bull-crap smear tactics of so many Bush-haters. Enough already with the "Bush lied people died." Not exactly the kind of argument that makes your opponents want to listen.

Heh. They need to shake loose their own looney toons, too.

Here's a good example of "ass-kicker" Rudy Giuliani in action.

Gold is on its way to $800.

The SIV fund appears to be a $100 billion bailout for Citigroup.

Bush has WWIII on his mind, as does Iran.

No wonder people are behaving bizarrely.

George;

People on the lunatic fringe always act bizarrely. What you are seeing is an aging "Peace, Love, Dove" hippie population suffering the effects of the Timothy Leary doctrine of "Tune in, turn on, drop out-We are the world" politics that eschews accountability and responsibility for themselves but nobody else.

Obviously someone didn't get the memo in Maine before they started the program of providing birth control to pre-pubescent girls. What do they thing they are doing, preparing these young women for a life of debauchery in Hollywood?

Maher was correct in stating these fools need their "Ass kicked" back to tangible reality.

Vet66--

I'd include Maher with them. Since when do people with a live audience of 10 million or so viewers curse multiple times?...Is THAT normal now?

I particularly love the bit when the idiot congresswoman from Texas bleats about the First Amendment, as if she thinks Bill Maher is an arm of government...

Anyways, maybe this was just a simple case of the "don't taze me bro" mindset: disrupt a public event, provoke physical force from the authorities and reap the publicity. Where is Andrew Meyer these days, anyway?

The video that "no one" posted of Rudy taking down some rude caller was great too. Don't call up, act like an asshole on air, and then try to play the sympathy card when you get ripped up. Giuliani's reaction was very restrained.

Why do you still think that's an oddity, given all you've seen in the way that the modern left sees themselves, sees everyone who disagrees with them, and behaviorally-speaking conducts itself (not least vis-a-vis yourself)?

Giuliani taking down a rude caller a decade ago is just awful.

Stark claiming, on the House floor, that Bush is "amused" at American soldiers getting their heads blown off is just peachy keen.

Go figure.

She's a Congresswoman, goober. I think you did that on purpose because you repeated it twice. I think you need a new right-wing hobby like flying a single-engine Cessna with just the right-wing attached. Fly right into the Bush White House, so you can dance the two-step with your cowBOY lover.

Trumpit, you strike again. Your most recent satire of a mindless KOS kid is spot on. Keep up the humorous posts.

The term "Congresscritter" is both gender neutral, and befits the dignity and discourse level which many members (hmmm, is member too gender specific?) have lowered themselves to.

As far as "Troofers" go, there are plenty of "Troofers" in the Kos Kiddie crowd, and amongst the Ron Paul acolytes.

Seems political craziness can be graphed on a circle where the extreme left and extreme right meet in one big anti-government pile.

The question isn't why these crazies exist, they've always existed to some degree, the question is what will they do if 2008 doesn't go the way they expect?

This was a good test for the depth of Maher's commitment to liberalism. Every time a liberal gets mugged, it's time for some "ass-kicking". To hell with group hugs and protest songs.

Well, he claims (or did at one recent time) to be a libertarian.

Although Tucker Carlson last week read him a list of the libertarian policies espoused by Ron Paul, who Maher has shown a fancy towards.

Maher was not pleased.

Cafeteria libertarian, so to speak.

I saw this earlier. I was actually bored to death watching Sheila Jackson-Lee and fipped over to the 49ers game, missing the truthers. Maher's offbeat, and I disagree with him, but I like his act here.

Politically he's a cross between a Democrat and a complete asshole. He's one of those people who thinks "libertarian" means "the government should do what I want it to, when I want it to". The correct term for that is "immature", not "libertarian".

That's pretty damn funny,.. what a bunch of nuts. Bush is guilty of a lot of things, but murder is not one of them!
