Didn't their perfume hit you in the smile? These flowers have the most wonderful scent down here in the south, and these lok like an older variety that should really create a stir!

I see these in the water here in Louisiana, but the color in Ann's photo is much deeper, more purple. We drove past a long stretch of lavender water hyacinths filling a stretch of bayou this weekend. Right across the road from an oil refinery-a typical River Parishes scene.

I live in a lush, year-long growing climate, but I envy what I'm seeing in your photos, Ann. I grew up some in the Midwest and still have memories of scent and color of some flowers that just don't grow in the hotter climes of south Louisiana.
