The Giuliani conference call with the bloggers.

Rudy Giuliani is doing a conference call today with some of us bloggers. What should I ask him? I have an idea, but maybe you can push me toward a better one.

UPDATE: Well, he took 7 questions and I was somewhere in the queue if he'd gone on, but he didn't. He didn't hang out with us as long as McCain did, and he didn't do the McCain thing of saying "two more questions" when told there would be "one more question." So, too bad, but I won't hold it against him. I'll write up my notes in a new post, which will be up very soon.

Which civil liberties should we expect to retain, in the event of a Giuliani presidency?

Ask him whether he really thinks al-Qaeda attacked us because we are "rich and free," or whether it might possibly be a bit more complicated than that.

/to be fair to Dems who dodge the question

"What actual evidence do we have re Iran's WMD program, and how is that evidence better/different than what we had re Iraq?"

Not that I would want the conference call to revolve around abortion, but I think you should ask: "How can you assure us that the states would make the decision?"

Other than that, I would ask him how long he thinks we will need to keep military forces in Iraq and (presuming that he sees a need beyond inauguration day 2009) how is he going to articulate that vision so that more Americans support the endeavor.

I think the questions you raised in this post are the ones I'd want answered, actually. I'd go with your gut.

The only thing I'd add is a fairly bald question: I'd want to know if, when he says that "ultimately there has to be a right to choose," that means that he opposes overruling Roe, or if he means only that whatever the constitutional status of the so-called right to choose, there should not be laws abridging it.

What does he think is the most wasteful part of the federal govt?

Who would he appoint as attorney general?

How will his history of telling the Saudis and Palestinians to eff off effect our foreign policy?

Can he appoint a Secretary of State who can stand up to the appeasniks at Foggy Bottom?

I'd like to hear his take on the Truthers, and how Kerry and Edwards have both said they have an open mind about Rosie O'Donnell-style conspiracy theories.
